Depression and the military

Depression rates are greater in the military than in the general population, especially among family members. However, there is assistance available to lessen symptoms and enhance general wellbeing. It is a known fact that stigma within the military and among military families prevents some people from getting the assistance they need. If a military member seeks assistance for depression, they could be concerned about how their peers will see them or that they won’t be promoted.

"I feel the Parks have a special way of treating patients that I am not used to. I have made significant progress since starting. I feel they really care and are willing to think outside of the box to help someone. I wish more providers were like them. I think more people would get better."
